Operational strategies of the Panama Canal presented at the International Investors Forum

The 2025 Investor Forum, organized by the Latin American Stock Exchange LATINEX, analyzed the economic and operational strategies of the Panama Canal during the months with the highest impact of the dry season in the country as a result of the El Niño Phenomenon of 2023-2024.

During the presentation, the Administrator of the Panama Canal, Ricaurte Vásquez Morales, shared the strategies implemented, and the results obtained in the fiscal year 2023-2024, in terms of ship transits and economic income obtained by this operation.

The exhibition called “Adaptability in times of uncertainty” addressed the social and environmental challenges facing the Panama Canal, as well as short, medium and long-term attention strategies, in order to ensure the efficiency and reliability of the route in the international maritime market.

Meduca launches National Guidance Network 

At the launch of the National Network of Guiding Teachers, the Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar, pointed out that 21st century students want to be participants in the process of knowledge construction, teachers have to become guides of ideas that help you achieve your goals.

The network will aim to plan strategies that allow the insertion of educational and professional guidance in primary education, minimize school violence, re-educate in sexual education with a perspective on values, promote professional vocational guidance in pre-media with an integrative approach, projection towards the community and parents and empower the student with strategies and techniques to improve academic performance.

The event had the participation of the Deputy Minister of Academics of Education, Agnes de Cotes, national directors, 225 counselors from all over the country and international panelists, such as the international disease prevention advisor of the World Health Organization (WHO), Zohra Abaakouk referred to the counselor’s self-care tools based on suicide prevention, caring for the caregiver.

MIDA technicians receive induction on the new Agricultural Extension System 

Technicians from the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA), from the regions of Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí and Comarca Ngäbe Buglé, are in the city of David, Chiriquí, receiving an induction about the new Agricultural Extension System, which will be implemented at the national. 

“This is a physical and digital tool where all the activities carried out by the institution in support of producers are recorded, evaluated and monitored, said the Technical Secretary of MIDA, Carmela Pombo, who directs the induction.

This new system is initially aimed at department and program coordinators, so that they can replicate the information obtained to the different extension areas.

The Chiriquí Health Region brings health services to the El Palmar school fair in Barú

A series of services and attention were provided by the nursing team, health promoters and educators in the so-called “school fair” organized by the El Palmar educational center in the district of Barú, province of Chiriquí.

Topics of importance for children and adolescents were taught by minsa specialists who, through workshops and recreational tools, reached minors, emphasizing the importance of good nutrition and health checks.

Prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, early pregnancy and smoking were some of the talks given, where students actively participated with questions and exercises that allowed them to learn and win.

Organized Civil Society in Chiriquí reiterates support for the Puerto Barú project in David

More than 30 organizations from the Organized Civil Society of Chiriquí reaffirmed their support for the Puerto Barú project in David, which promises to boost employment and socioeconomic development in the western region of Panama.

This support was consolidated during an Information Day of the Chiriquí Chamber of Commerce (CAMCHI), where the projected investments were highlighted, especially Puerto Barú, which will begin soon after the approval of the Category III Environmental Impact Study.

“Puerto Barú will bring great benefits to the region, complying with the necessary regulations for its viability,” said Jorge Tovar Vargas, president of CAMCHI.

Panorama ready for the Major League “Playoffs”

With the possible absence of the protagonists of the last World Series, the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks, the options are open for the October Classic. Three winners from each division, from both the American and National Leagues, will join three wild cards, forming a total of 12 teams that will compete for the title.

The two best records in each league will advance directly to the Division Series, while the other four teams, along with the third division champion, will compete in the Wild Card Series.

This best-of-three series will determine who advances to the next round, and the division series will be played as a best-of-five. The championship series and the World Series will be defined in seven games. Although there are no qualifiers yet, the calendar promises a dramatic closing.
