Chiriquí celebra su 175 aniversario de fundación
En el marco del aniversario de Chiriquí, se llevan a cabo diversas actividades en sus 14 distritos, principalmente en el distrito de Remedios, ubicado en el oriente de la provincia, que este año se convirtió en el epicentro de la celebración.
La provincia de Chiriquí fue creada en 1849 mediante la Ley 62 del Senado colombiano, gracias a los esfuerzos del senador panameño José de Obaldía Orejuela. Inicialmente, estaba formada por nueve distritos, y su primer gobernador fue Pablo Arosemena de la Barrera.
Las festividades incluyen exposiciones de arte, actividades culturales y homenajes a momentos históricos significativos, como la Guerra de Coto y la lucha por la independencia de Panamá de Colombia.
Esta celebración resalta la importancia cultural, histórica y económica de Chiriquí en la formación de la nación panameña.
Chiriquí celebrates its 175th anniversary of founding
As part of the anniversary of Chiriquí, various activities are carried out in its 14 districts, mainly in the district of Remedios, located in the east of the province, which this year became the epicenter of the celebration.
The province of Chiriquí was created in 1849 by Law 62 of the Colombian Senate, thanks to the efforts of the Panamanian senator José de Obaldía Orejuela.
Initially, it was made up of nine districts, and its first governor was Pablo Arosemena de la Barrera. Festivities include art exhibitions, cultural activities, and tributes to significant historical moments, such as the Coto War and Panama’s fight for independence from Colombia. This celebration highlights the cultural, historical and economic importance of Chiriquí in the formation of the Panamanian nation.
Centro Infantil Universitario rinde honor a la creación de la provincia de Chiriquí
Con vestimentas alusivas a la provincia de Chiriquí, 85 niños del Centro Infantil Universitario rindieron honor a los 175 años de la creación de la provincia con motivo de la celebración este 26 de mayo.
Los niños del CIU en compañía de los jugadores del equipo de béisbol de la provincia, Carlos Xavier Quiroz, Luis Jordán, Ernesto Silva y Julio Avendaño junto a docentes, visitaron las instalaciones de la rectoría, donde fueron recibidos por la Vicerrectora de Asuntos Estudiantiles, Olda Cano.
Los niños realizaron un recorrido por las instalaciones de la universidad, donde recibieron bolsitas con golosinas al ritmo de nuestra música chiricana.
Este domingo se cumple los 175 años de la creación de la provincia donde se llevará a cabo actividades durante el presente año en el distrito de Remedios en el oriente de la provincia.
University Children’s Center honors the creation of the province of Chiriquí
Wearing clothing alluding to the province of Chiriquí, 85 children from the University Children’s Center honored the 175 years since the creation of the province on the occasion of the celebration this May 26.
The CIU children, accompanied by the players of the province’s baseball team, Carlos Xavier Quiroz, Luis Jordán, Ernesto Silva and Julio Avendaño, along with teachers, visited the rectory facilities, where they were received by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Olda Cano.
The children took a tour of the university facilities, where they received bags of candy to the rhythm of music from Chiriquí. This Sunday marked the 175th anniversary of the creation of the province where activities will be carried out this year in the district of Remedios in the east of the province.
Gobernación de Chiriquí lista para transición
Durante la celebración del 175 aniversario de Chiriquí en el distrito de Remedios, las autoridades provinciales, encabezadas por el gobernador Juan Carlos Muñoz Franceschi, participaron en la reunión mensual del Consejo Provincial.
Muñoz Franceschi indicó que el proceso de transición provincial comenzará de manera ordenada y transparente una vez el presidente electo haga las designaciones correspondientes, siguiendo las directrices del presidente de la República, Laurentino Cortizo.
Chiriquí Governorate ready for transition
During the celebration of the 175th anniversary of Chiriquí in the district of Remedios, the provincial authorities, led by Governor Juan Carlos Muñoz Franceschi, participated in the monthly meeting of the Provincial Council.
Muñoz Franceschi indicated that the provincial transition process will begin in an orderly and transparent manner once the president-elect makes the corresponding appointments, following the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo.
Mitradel Ratifica Renovación de Convenio Colectivo entre Agropecuaria Chiriquí y SITRAPEID
El Ministerio de Trabajo y Desarrollo Laboral (Mitradel) ratificó el 24 de mayo de 2024 la renovación del convenio colectivo entre Agropecuaria Chiriquí y el Sindicato de Trabajadores Agropecuarios e Industrias Derivadas (SITRAPEID), beneficiando a 17 trabajadores de la empresa dedicada al cultivo de palma aceitera en Chiriquí, David.
Hermenegildo Baker, director regional del Mitradel, destacó la importancia de alcanzar acuerdos mediante el diálogo respetuoso, fortaleciendo la paz social y económica del país.
Entre los logros del convenio se incluyen permisos remunerados en casos especiales, contribución anual para la celebración del Día Internacional del Trabajador, bonificación navideña, y subsidios para actividades sociales, culturales y deportivas.
Mitradel Ratifies Renewal of the Collective Agreement between Agropecuaria Chiriquí and SITRAPEID
The Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) ratified on May 24, 2024 the renewal of the collective agreement between Agropecuaria Chiriquí and the Union of Agricultural Workers and Derived Industries (SITRAPEID), benefiting 17 workers of the company dedicated to palm cultivation oil plant in Chiriquí, David.
Hermenegildo Baker, regional director of Mitradel, highlighted the importance of reaching agreements through respectful dialogue, strengthening the social and economic peace of the country.
Among the achievements of the agreement are paid leave in special cases, annual contribution for the celebration of International Workers’ Day, Christmas bonus, and subsidies for social, cultural and sports activities.

Tauro-Plaza Amador; una final esperada en el fútbol nacional
Luego de electrizantes semifinales de la Liga Panameña de Fútbol (LPF), dos viejos conocidos se verán una vez más las caras y esta vez en el remodelado Rommel Fernández G., para disputar la supremacía del fútbol panameño.
