Cámara de Comercio de Chiriquí visita sitio del proyecto Puerto Barú
La Cámara de Comercio, Industrias y Agricultura de Chiriquí realizó una visita al corregimiento de Chiriquí, donde se espera la construcción del ambicioso proyecto Puerto Barú en David. Esta iniciativa, clave para el desarrollo de la región, promete impulsar la diversificación económica, atraer nuevas inversiones y generar miles de empleos directos e indirectos.
Puerto Barú se perfila como un punto estratégico que facilitará el comercio global, contribuyendo al crecimiento económico sostenible tanto a nivel nacional como internacional.
Durante el recorrido, los representantes de la Cámara subrayaron la importancia de esta obra para las comunidades locales, destacando las oportunidades que brindará a los jóvenes y el impulso que dará al progreso de la región occidental de Panamá.
A su vez, residentes de Punta Tierra y sectores vecinos en el corregimiento de Chiriquí, llegaron al punto de gira para mostrar su rechazo a quienes se oponen al proyecto.
ATTT se reúne con transportistas en Chiriquí y visita regionales de Coclé y Veraguas
El director de la Autoridad del Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (ATTT), Jorge Luis Ábrego, realizó una gira de trabajo en respuesta a las inquietudes de transportistas. En Chiriquí, se reunió con representantes del sector selectivo, colectivo, y de la Cámara Nacional de Transporte (CANATRA), para abordar temas como el funcionamiento de plataformas de transporte y trámites pendientes en la ATTT. Ábrego reafirmó su compromiso de encontrar soluciones en cumplimiento con la ley.
La reunión se celebró en la gobernación de Chiriquí, con la participación de autoridades locales y representantes de la Policía Nacional y la Defensoría del Pueblo.
Además, Ábrego visitó las regionales de Coclé y Veraguas para fortalecer la gestión institucional, recordando que “como servidores públicos, nos debemos tanto a los transportistas como a los usuarios”.
Inauguran Parada de las Flores en Tierras Altas
Este fin de semana fue inaugurada la Parada de las Flores en Volcán, Tierras Altas, Chiriquí, la cual se realizará hasta el 17 de septiembre, destacando la producción agrícola de la región, especialmente las hortalizas bajo el tema: Tierras Altas, ¡Tu mejor destino!
La Parada de las Flores busca despertar el interés de los visitantes en las maravillas que ofrece el distrito de Tierras Altas, Chiriquí, con una diversidad de especies en fauna y flora, además de su producción agrícola, ganadera y cafetalera.
La actividad reafirma su compromiso de promover las bellezas de esta región, mostrando al mundo el potencial y las riquezas que se esconden en estas tierras panameñas.
Durante la inauguración, el director regional del Ministerio de Desarrollo Agropecuario (MIDA), Félix Martínez, junto al subdirector regional, Jeyson Ortega, y la subdirectora nacional de ferias, Kalizol Caballero, reconocieron la trayectoria de más de 25 años de las extensionistas Mixela Quintero y Sonia Santamaría, quienes han contribuido significativamente a las ferias en el país.

Primera cirugía de la enfermedad congénita “Anomalía de Ebstein” es realizada en Chiriquí
En Chiriquí, se realizó la primera cirugía de la enfermedad congénita “Anomalía de Ebstein” en un paciente de 17 años, un raro defecto cardíaco. La operación se llevó a cabo en el Centro Hospitalario Dr. Rafael Hernández L. de la Caja de Seguro Social (CSS) en David, fue todo un éxito e incluyó la reconstrucción de la anatomía cardíaca y el reemplazo de la válvula tricúspide
El Dr. Oman Jiménez explicó que la válvula tricúspide estaba mal posicionada, lo que causaba síntomas como cansancio y dolor en el pecho. La cirugía, que duró cuatro horas, marca un hito en la medicina provincial.
La Dra. Idanela Ortiz destacó que este logro abre oportunidades para pacientes con patologías cardiovasculares en la región. El paciente se recupera favorablemente en cuidados intensivos, donde el equipo médico vigila su evolución.
Este procedimiento reinicia el programa de cirugías de corazón abierto en el hospital, suspendido desde la pandemia, tras operar a más de 150 pacientes entre 2012 y 2020.
DGI mantiene fiscalización masiva en el país, a fin de comprobar la correcta facturación en comercios
La Dirección General de Ingresos (DGI) ha iniciado un operativo nacional para verificar el cumplimiento de los comercios en materia de facturación y uso de equipos fiscales o factura electrónica. Ronald Santamaría, Jefe encargado de Recaudación, explicó que todos los establecimientos deben tener visible el letrero que exige la entrega de factura, como parte del cumplimiento del ITBMS (7%).
La falta de este letrero o la certificación del método de facturación conlleva multas de B/. 100.00. Además, se supervisa que las transacciones electrónicas cumplan con los requisitos normativos, como el Registro Único de Contribuyente (RUC). Las sanciones por incumplimiento van desde B/. 500.00 a B/. 1,000.00, y en casos de reincidencia, hasta B/. 10,000.00.
Víctor Fernández, de la Sección de Facturación, invita a los contribuyentes a usar la herramienta “Denuncia Mi Factura” para reportar comercios que no emiten facturas, promoviendo así una competencia justa.

El Instituto de Acueductos y Alcantarillados Nacionales (IDAAN) comunica la programación que lleva la empresa BTD Proyectos 12, S. A. en los trabajos de limpieza y mantenimiento de los trenes (sedimentadores y floculadores) de la planta potabilizadora Ciudad de David los días 18 y 25 de septiembre reduciendo la producción en un 60%.
Las labores continuarán en el mismo horario de 6:00 a.m. a 6:00 p.m. presentando baja presión o falta de agua los puntos altos y alejados de la red en David, David Este, David Sur, Las Lomas, Pedregal, partes de San Carlos, las urbanizaciones Villa Patricia y Aqualina en San Pablo Viejo; así como, las comunidades del corregimiento de Los Algarrobos que se abastecen de la estación de bombeo de El Tucán.
La institución recomienda a la población hacer un uso racional del agua y tomar las medidas necesarias para evitar el desabastecimiento mientras se recupere el sistema.

Chiriquí Chamber of Commerce visits Puerto Barú project site

ATTT convened a meeting with transportation industry leaders in Chiriquí
In a proactive response to growing concerns from the transportation industry, ATTT Director Jorge Luis Ábrego conducted a comprehensive work tour in Chiriquí. First surgery for the congenital disease “Ebstein’s Anomaly” in an adult is performed in Chiriquí
A groundbreaking medical milestone was achieved in Chiriquí with the successful performance of the first-ever surgery to correct Ebstein’s anomaly, a rare congenital heart defect, in a 17-year-old patient. The complex procedure, involving the intricate reconstruction of the cardiac anatomy and the replacement of the tricuspid valve, was a resounding success at the Dr. Rafael Hernández L. Hospital Center of the Social Security Fund (CSS) in David. This medical breakthrough marks a significant advancement in the region’s capacity to treat complex heart conditions and offers hope to patients with this rare disorder..
Dr. Oman Jiménez explained that the tricuspid valve was poorly positioned, causing symptoms such as fatigue and chest pain. The surgery, which lasted four hours, marks a milestone in provincial medicine. Dr. Idanela Ortiz highlighted that this achievement opens opportunities for patients with cardiovascular pathologies in the region.

DGI maintains massive inspection in the country, in order to verify correct billing in businesses
The General Directorate of Revenue (DGI) has started a national operation to verify the compliance of businesses in terms of billing and use of fiscal equipment or electronic invoice.
Ronald Santamaría, Head of Collection, explained that all establishments must have the sign requiring the delivery of a visible invoice, as part of compliance with the ITBMS (7%).
The lack of this sign or the certification of the billing method entails fines of B/. 100.00. In addition, it is monitored that electronic transactions comply with regulatory requirements, such as the Single Taxpayer Registry (RUC).
The sanctions for non-compliance range from B/. 500.00 to B/. 1,000.00, and in cases of recidivism, up to B/. 10,000.00.
