Expresidente Ricardo Martinelli es condenado a 128 meses de prisión en el caso New Business
La Jueza Segunda Liquidadora de Causas Penales del Primer Circuito Judicial de Panamá, Baloísa Marquínez Morán, emitió sentencia condenatoria contra varios ciudadanos, incluyendo a un ex Presidente de la República de Panamá, en calidad de autores del delito Contra el Orden Económico, en la modalidad de Blanqueo de Capitales, específicamente bajo el artículo 255, numeral 1 del Código Penal (CP), en el caso denominado “New Business”.
Además, en la sentencia se ordenó la disolución de dos (2) sociedades y el comiso de las acciones de EPASA, a favor del Estado, así como la administración de bienes muebles e inmuebles de dicha editorial.
De igual forma, se impuso una multa equivalente a USD $19,221,600.48 como pena accesoria Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal, ex Presidente de la República de Panamá. A los directores de las empresas contratistas se les inhabilitó para el ejercicio del comercio por un término igual al de la pena principal.
Former President Ricardo Martinelli is sentenced to 128 months in prison in the New Business case
The Second Judge of Criminal Cases of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama, Baloísa Marquínez Morán, issued a conviction against several citizens, including a former President of the Republic of Panama, as perpetrators of the crime Against the Economic Order, due to Money Laundering, specifically stated by article 255, numeral 1 of the Criminal Code (CP), in the “New Business” case.
In addition, the judgment ordered the dissolution of two (2) companies and the confiscation of the shares of EPASA, in favor of the State, as well as the administration of movable and immovable property of said publishing house.
Likewise, a fine equivalent to USD $19,221,600.48 was imposed as an ancillary penalty to the former President of the Republic, Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal. The directors of the contracting companies were disqualified from the exercise of commerce for a term equal to that of the main penalty.

Permisos de Trabajo Temporal de Protección Humanitaria deberán regirse bajo el cumplimiento de la ley laboral panameña
El Ministerio de Trabajo y Desarrollo Laboral iniciará el proceso de trámite para los Permisos de Trabajo Temporal de Protección, para las personas migrantes en condición irregular que vivan en el territorio nacional.
El Permiso de Trabajo Temporal de Protección es transitorio y será emitido por un período de dos años y no será susceptible a prórroga. Al término de los dos años, la persona migrante tendrá que cambiar su estatus migratorio y aplicar a un permiso de trabajo conforme al Decreto Ejecutivo 6.
El MITRADELl reitera a todo migrante que opte por este permiso de trabajo que debe iniciar primero su proceso con la solicitud de cita y preregistro ante el Servicio Nacional de Migración.
Temporary Humanitarian Protection Work Permits must be governed by compliance with Panamanian labor law
The Ministry of Labor and Labor Development will begin the processing process for Temporary Protection Work Permits, for irregular migrants living in the national territory.
The Temporary Protection Work Permit is transitory and will be issued for a period of two years and will not be subject to extension. At the end of the two years, the migrant will have to change their immigration status and apply for a work permit in accordance with Executive Decree 6.
MITRADEL reiterates to all migrants who opt for this work permit that they must first start their process with the request for an appointment and pre-registration with the National Migration Service.

IDAAN anuncia trabajos para el jueves 20 de julio
El Instituto de Acueductos y Alcantarillados Nacionales (IDAAN) comunica que el próximo jueves, 20 de julio la planta potabilizadora Ciudad de David ubicada en el corregimiento de Los Algarrobos operará en un 60% de su producción diaria por trabajos de mantenimiento en uno de sus sedimentadores.
Las labores se harán siempre y cuando el clima lo permita, en un horario de 8:00 a. m. a 4:00 p.m. afectando parcialmente el servicio en las partes altas de David, David Este, Las Lomas, partes de San Carlos; las urbanizaciones Aqualina y Villa Patricia en San Pablo Viejo en el distrito de David.
Una vez finalicen los trabajos, se iniciará un operativo de apertura de hidrantes y expulsión de aire de las líneas de distribución para lograr la estabilización del sistema en un periodo no menor a 72 horas.

IDAAN announces jobs for Thursday, July 20
The Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN) announces that next Thursday, July 20, the David water treatment plant located in Los Algarrobos will operate at 60% of its daily production, due to maintenance work in one of its sedimentation tanks.
The work will be done if the weather allows it, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., partially affecting the service in the upper parts of David, David Este, Las Lomas, parts of San Carlos; the Aqualina and Villa Patricia urbanizations in San Pablo Viejo in David.
Once the works are finished, an operation will begin to open the hydrants and expel air from the distribution lines to achieve the stabilization of the system in a period of no less than 72 hours.
