Comunidad de Tierras Altas emite comunicado por protestas
La comunidad de Tierras Altas expresó su preocupación por el secuestro que enfrenta esta región del país por grupos adversos al contrato minero y señalaron que es necesario unir fuerzas para lograr la reapertura de las vías y el libre acceso en el distrito.
Para la Cámara de Turismo, Comercio e Industrias de Tierras Altas es inaudito que un pequeño grupo limite 24/7 el tránsito desde y hacia esta región, afectando el derecho de la comunidad, la producción agrícola y el ingreso de combustible y medicamentos.
Expresaron que en algunos casos los residentes del lugar han sido forzados a pagar peajes para su desplazamiento a sus hogares o lugares de trabajo y señalaron que, luego de tres semanas de negociación con estos grupos, solamente han logrado reabrir la vía en dos días, con aperturas parciales de tres y seis horas.
“Además del daño económico, los cierres limitan el acceso a servicios básicos y los ciudadanos tienen dificultades para acceder a la atención médica, educación y otros servicios. Estas restricciones afectan a nuestra comunidad agrícola, impidiendo la distribución de sus productos, contribuyendo a la escasez y aumento de precios en alimentos básicos”, precisa un comunicado del gremio empresarial.
Highland Community Issues Statement on Protests
The community of Tierras Altas expressed their concern about the kidnapping that this region of the country is facing by groups opposed to the mining contract and pointed out that it is necessary to join forces to achieve the reopening of roads and free access in the district.
For the Highlands Chamber of Tourism, Commerce, and Industries, it is unheard of for a small group to limit 24/7 transit to and from this region, affecting the right of the community, agricultural production and the entry of fuel and medicines.
They said that in some cases residents have been forced to pay tolls to travel to their homes or workplaces and pointed out that, after three weeks of negotiation with these groups, they have only managed to reopen the road in two days, with partial openings of three and six hours.
“In addition to the economic damage, the closures limit access to basic services and citizens struggle to access health care, education and other services. These restrictions affect our agricultural community, preventing the distribution of their products, contributing to shortages and price increases in basic foodstuffs,” said a statement from the business association.
Hoy iniciará distribución de insumos médicos en Chiriquí
Los insumos médicos y medicamentos que llegaron a David serán distribuidos a las instalaciones de salud de la Caja de Seguro Social de Chiriquí y Bocas del Toro, a partir de hoy lunes.
Los seis vehículos que llegaron al Centro de Distribución de Medicamentos de la CSS en Chiriquí, en su mayoría con insumos médico quirúrgico, para los salones de operación, la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos y medicinas de uso hospitalario, ya fueron descargados.
El Dr. José Daniel Saldaña, director médico institucional de la CSS en Chiriquí, explicó en conferencia de prensa, que el personal está trabajando durante todo el fin de semana para tener lista la distribución, que no solo incluye las unidades ejecutoras y hospitales de Chiriquí, sino también de Bocas del Toro.
Distribution of medical supplies will begin today in Chiriqui
The medical supplies and medicines that arrived in David will be distributed to the health facilities of the Social Security Fund of Chiriqui and Bocas del Toro, starting today, Monday.
The six vehicles that arrived at the CSS Drug Distribution Center in Chiriqui, mostly with medical-surgical supplies for the operating rooms, the Intensive Care Unit, and medicines for hospital use, have already been unloaded.
Dr. José Daniel Saldaña, institutional medical director of the CSS in Chiriqui, explained at a press conference that the staff is working throughout the weekend to have the distribution ready, which not only includes the executing units and hospitals in Chiriqui, but also in Bocas del Toro.
MiAMBIENTE Chiriquí reabre acceso a las Áreas Protegidas
El Ministerio de Ambiente (MiAMBIENTE), anuncia la apertura del acceso a los parques nacionales y áreas protegidas de Chiriquí, luego del comunicado del Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil (SINAPROC), con el que se procedió a levantar la alerta amarilla emitida para la provincia de Chiriquí.
Comunicamos a los visitantes nacionales, extranjeros y público en general que el Parque Nacional Volcán Barú (PNVB), Parque Internacional La Amistad (PILA) y el Refugio de Vida Silvestre Playa la Barqueta Agrícola (RVSPLBA), permanecerán abiertos para recibir a los turistas.
MiAMBIENTE Chiriquí reopens access to Protected Areas
The Ministry of Environment (MiAMBIENTE) announces the opening of access to the national parks and protected areas of Chiriqui, after the statement of the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC), with which the yellow alert issued for the province of Chiriqui was lifted.
We inform national and foreign visitors and the public that the Barú Volcano National Park (PNVB), La Amistad International Park (PILA) and the Playa la Barqueta Agrícola Wildlife Refuge (RVSPLBA), will remain open to receive tourists.
