Panamá celebra fallo de la Corte Suprema de Justicia
En el día de ayer, martes 28 de noviembre, Panamá celebró un día histórico, ante el anuncio del Pleno de la Corte Suprema de Justicia, que, de forma unánime, declaró que la demanda de inconstitucionalidad presentada contra la Ley 406 de 20 de octubre de 2023, que aprueba el contrato de concesión minera celebrado entre el Estado panameño y la Sociedad Minera Panamá S.A., es inconstitucional.
El fallo emitido por el máximo tribunal de justicia, la noche del lunes 27 de noviembre de 2023, tuvo como ponente a la magistrada María Eugenia López Arias y contó con el aval de los magistrados Olmedo Arrocha Osorio (vicepresidente), Carlos Alberto Vásquez Reyes (presidente de la Sala Tercera de lo Contencioso Administrativo y Laboral), Angela Russo de Cedeño, Miriam Yadira Cheng Rosas, Maribel Cornejo Batista, Ariadne Maribel García Angulo, Cecilio Antonio Cedalise Riquelme y María Cristina Chen Stanziola.
La declaratoria de inconstitucionalidad fue anunciada por la magistrada presidenta López Arias, junto a las magistradas y los magistrados que integran el Pleno de la CSJ en una trasmisión en directo desde las instalaciones del Palacio de Justicia Gil Ponce, a las 7:10 a.m., de ayer martes 28 de noviembre de 2023.
En horas de la tarde, diversas marchas de celebración se realizaron en la ciudad capital y en otros puntos del país.
Pasadas las horas, el presidente de la República, Laurentino Cortizo se dirigió al país a las 4:30 p.m. e indicó: “Tan pronto se reciba la comunicación formal del fallo que declara inconstitucional la Ley 406 por parte de la Corte Suprema de Justicia, se procederá de inmediato a su publicación en Gaceta Oficial e iniciará el proceso de transición para el cierre ordenado y seguro de la mina”.

Cámara de Comercio se pronuncia ante fallo en caso minero
La Cámara de Comercio, Industrias, Agricultura y Turismo de Chiriquí, emitió un comunicado en el día de ayer, en el cual anunció su regocijo ante el fallo emitido por la Corte Suprema de Justicia, al considerar por unanimidad la inconstitucionalidad de la Ley 406, en el marco de los tiempos procesales, tal cual lo solicitado desde el primer momento por la población panameña y su organización empresarial.
“Con esta acción se demuestra la independencia del máximo Órgano de Justicia en nuestro país como columna vertebral de la democracia, aniquilando los motivos para las medidas extremas de bloqueos de calles y suspensión de clases, que tantos daños psicólogos, sociales y económicos han causado, especialmente en la región occidental de Panamá desde hace 36 días”.
A su vez, emitieron como organización empresarial, un llamado al Ministerio de Educación y a las bases magisteriales para el retorno inmediato a los centros educativos, como también así a los sectores en general a respetar la decisión y a esperar los tiempos necesarios para el cumplimiento de las normas, entre ellos los nuevos pasos a seguir para el cierre de la mina, el cual debe darse de forma ordenada y bajo el marco de la legalidad correspondiente, garantizando los derechos de sus colaboradores.

Realizan mejoras de sistemas de riego en Chiriquí
Importantes mejoras realiza el Ministerio de Desarrollo Agropecuario en los sistemas de riego establecidos en la provincia de Chiriquí, según lo comunicó el director regional de esta institución, Alcibíades Araúz; una iniciativa del Gobierno Nacional para apoyar a los productores en sus labores, durante la estación seca que se avecina.
Dijo que en Chiriquí hay cinco sistemas de riego funcionando: Remigio Rojas en Alanje, Cordillera de Boquerón, Río Caldera en Boquete, Río Sereno en Renacimiento y Río Bambito en Tierras Altas, los cuales rinden importantes beneficios a la producción agropecuaria.
Informó que en cada uno de estos sistemas se efectúan labores de mantenimiento, para que ejerzan a plenitud su función de proveer el recurso hídrico en las explotaciones agropecuarias, para una eficiente labor productiva, una vez se establezca la temporada seca.
Destacó que para el distrito de Barú se gestiona la apertura de 160 pozos con sus respectivos sistemas de riego, beneficiando a igual cantidad de productores de plátano, impulsando así la producción sostenible de este importante rubro.

Ministerio de Vivienda ejecuta Plan Progreso en Chiriquí
Seis familias de distintos distritos recibirán hoy sus nuevas viviendas por parte del Gobierno Nacional, a través del Programa de Gradualidad en el Residencial Social denominado Plan Progreso, que desarrolla el Ministerio de Vivienda y Ordenamiento Territorial (Miviot), en la provincia de Chiriquí, así lo da a conocer Eric Quintero, director provincial de esta entidad.
Cabe señalar que el Plan Progreso está dirigido a la construcción de viviendas de crecimiento progresivo, donde el Miviot entrega a los beneficiarios soluciones habitacionales, teniendo el beneficiario la opción de ampliarla o construir una actividad de emprendimiento, bajo la orientación, capacitación y aporte económico por parte de AMPYME u otros entes gubernamentales.
