Productores participan en la selección de nuevas variedades de papa
Forma del tubérculo, color de la pulpa, resistencia a enfermedades, rendimiento en campo, entre otras características forman parte de las evaluaciones que realizan los investigadores del IDIAP antes de liberar alguna variedad donde los productores desempeñan un rol importante en lo que se denomina selección participativa.
Explica el Dr. Arnulfo Gutiérrez, director general del IDIAP e investigador en papa que existe un grupo de variedades donde hay mucha diversidad que son presentados a los productores, estos seleccionan las que más les gusta lo que hace que los resultados sean más certeros y que al final de las evaluaciones técnico, científicas estas ya cuenten con la aceptación de los productores. Asegura el investigador que esta metodología acelera la adopción de nuevos materiales.
El IDIAP recibe material genético de papa del Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP), Perú, de los Estados Unidos y otros países y todos pasan por un rigor científico de evaluación en estaciones experimentales y en fincas de producción donde el productor participa desde el inicio.

El presidente Cortizo Cohen resaltó que esta administración tuvo la visión de crear el Gabinete de Gestión Integral de Riesgos y Desastres (GIRD) mediante Decreto Ejecutivo en agosto de 2021, para preparar al país y la población antes situaciones de emergencia nacional a fin de mantener alineadas las políticas públicas.

Automovilismo en Panamá: se renueva un sueño deportivo
El pasado domingo 21 de abril el Autódromo Panamá ubicado en el corregimiento de Campana, distrito de Capira en la provincia de Panamá Oeste, recibió la calificación de Grado Tres por la Federación Internacional de Automovilismo, FIA, que le otorga licencia para la celebración de carreras como las del GT Challenge de las Américas y de Fórmula 4.
La histórica confirmación llegó del presidente de FIA, Mohamed Ben Sulayem desde China antes de iniciar el primer evento en la mencionada pista mediante un video.
Dante Pescetto, representante de FIA en Panamá, expresó su motivación “porque logramos un sueño anhelado por años en este deporte que tiene miles de seguidores en Panamá y Centroamérica.
En América solamente México y Brasil tienen una pista similar para este tipo de competencias. La máxima categoría es grado uno que pueden celebrar eventos de alto nivel.
