Chiricanos marchan por la paz y la apertura de vías
En una acción cívica, cientos de personas salieron ayer a las calles en apoyo a la convocatoria realizada por la Cámara de Comercio, Industrias, Agricultura y Turismo de Chiriquí junto a las Fuerzas Vivas de la provincia, clubes cívicos, gremios intersectoriales y sociedad civil, en demanda a la apertura de vías y el cumplimiento de los términos establecidos por la Corte Suprema de Justicia.
Esto, ante las múltiples vicisitudes que se viven en las provincias de Chiriquí y Bocas del Toro, debido a la escasez de alimentos, productos básicos como gas y combustible, que desde hace 23 días ingresan de forma esporádica debido a los cierres, provocando extensas filas y desesperación.
El presidente de la Cámara de Comercio de Chiriquí, Jorge Tovar, advirtió que la situación en esa provincia a causa de los cierres “es insostenible” e hizo un llamado al diálogo y a la apertura de vías.
Residentes en Volcán salieron ayer en la tarde a marchar exigiendo la apertura de la entrada al distrito de Tierras Altas.
Chiricanos march for peace and the opening of roads
In a civic action, hundreds of people took to the streets yesterday in support of the call made by the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Agriculture and Tourism of Chiriqui together with the Living Forces of the province, civic clubs, intersectoral unions and civil society, in demand of the opening of roads and compliance with the terms established by the Supreme Court of Justice.
This, in the face of the multiple vicissitudes that are being experienced in the provinces of Chiriqui and Bocas del Toro, due to the shortage of food, basic products such as gas and fuel, which for 23 days have entered sporadically due to the closures, causing long lines and desperation.
The president of the Chiriqui Chamber of Commerce, Jorge Tovar, warned that the situation in that province due to the closures “is unsustainable” and called for dialogue and the opening of roads.

Exportaciones panameñas crecieron 9.4% en los primeros 8 meses del año
Las exportaciones acumuladas del país, incluyendo las realizadas desde zonas francas y la Agencia Especial Panamá Pacífico, totalizaron los B/. B/. 2,733.2 millones de enero a agosto 2023, una cifra récord en comparación con el mismo periodo de 2010.
De este total, B/. 633.5 millones corresponden a exportaciones de productos sin cobre, las cuales lograron un alza de 9.4% en el valor FOB exportado, comparado con el mismo período del año 2022, que registró B/. 578.9 millones.
Este crecimiento fue destacado en un informe publicado por el Instituto de Estadística y Censo (INEC) y la Oficina de Inteligencia Comercial (INTELCOM) del Ministerio de Comercio e Industrias (MICI), que posiciona al banano dentro de las principales exportaciones que excluyen al cobre, así como los camarones congelados, el aceite de palma, los desperdicios de hierro o acero, los demás medicamentos, las grasas y aceites de pescado y la teca en bruto.

Un total de 78,639.7 hectáreas se han sembrado de arroz, de 1,408 productores, lo que representa el 84.8% de lo programado anual (92,757 hectáreas), detalla el informe semanal elaborado por la Dirección de Agricultura del Ministerio de Desarrollo Agropecuario (MIDA), hasta este 10 de noviembre de 2023.
Para el año agrícola 2023-2024, se ha programado la siembra de 92,757 hectáreas, con la participación de 1,680 productores, con una proyección de cosecha de 437,106 toneladas métricas o sea 9, 616,332 quintales, con rendimiento promedio de 104 quintales por hectáreas.
Respecto a la superficie sembrada, el informe detalla también, que del total sembrado el 91.9 % es secano (72,273 Ha con 1,323 productores) y 8.1 % con sistema de riego (6,366.7 Ha de 85 productores).
Hasta el momento del total sembrado, la provincia de Chiriquí registra el mayor porcentaje de siembra con un 24 % (18,877.7 Ha con 573 productores).
